Dr. Thies Enjoys Helping Students

Connecting with New Faces at WCES
Dr. Susan Thies - Instructional Coach

We have many new faces at WCES this year. We’d like to give you the opportunity to meet them over the next several weeks. We hope you will welcome each new staff member to our Wolf Creek Family!

Dr. Susan Thies has joined our WCES team as the Instructional Coach. This is her eighteenth year in education. During this time, she has served in a variety of roles including teaching second, third, and fifth grades, serving as a Library Media Specialist, and teaching technology. She has loved the variety of experiences she has had. Her favorite grade to teach was third. As a computer technology teacher, she really enjoyed introducing programming to her students and watching to see all the exciting things they could create with coding. Out of all of the positions she has had, the job she loves most is opening students' eyes to the possibilities of their future.

At Wolf Creek, Dr. Thies supports a variety of academic components such as curriculum, instruction, assessment, and more. She is here to help teachers as they work with individual students’ needs. She sums up her job as helping everyone grow and learn. And as she does that, she learns too!

When she’s NOT working hard at WCES, Dr. Thies enjoys driving her mom's 1965 Volkswagen Bug that her mom purchased off the showroom floor in 1965! She drives it around her neighborhood and takes the neighbors for rides when the weather is nice. She also enjoys travelling and has visited 18 countries with her husband. These exciting travels help her to understand other cultures and learn about the world from different perspectives.

Welcome to Wolf Creek Dr. Thies! We are so privileged to have your knowledge and expertise helping all of our staff and students.
