Grow Groups Are Blooming!

Grow Groups are Blooming!

“Sometimes the most ordinary things could be made extraordinary, simply by doing them with the right people.”  This quote sums up something very exciting that is happening at Wolf Creek Elementary.  At the end of September, students met in their grow groups for the first time.  A grow group is composed of one staff member and about 12 kids.  These kids are from mixed grade levels across the building.  During the first meeting, each grow group took time to get to know each other by playing fun games.  They created a banner that expressed their group’s uniqueness.  They developed a secret group signal to use when they see their group members around the school.

All of these activities are just ordinary things.  However, because they were done in a grow group environment, something extraordinary started to happen!  New friendships were formed as staff and students met new faces from around the building.  Multi-aged students worked together to accomplish tasks.  Our school-wide community has begun to grow as we notice others outside of just our classroom and grade level.

We are excited to see what other extraordinary things will continue as our grow groups meet each quarter.  If you would like to see some photos of our grow groups, go to the Media Gallery!
