Connecting together in our Grow Groups

Wranglers Connect with Gratitude

This Thanksgiving season offers each of us the opportunity to reflect on what we are grateful for. This was the focus of our second quarter Grow Groups. Grow Groups are a special tradition at our school. A grow group is made up of a few students from each grade level and at least one staff member. Our groups meet once each quarter to connect with other Wranglers and participate in a variety of activities.

This quarter’s activity was all about gratefulness. Students and staff wrote and drew things they are thankful for. We connected all of these wonderful ideas on banners and hung them around our school. They are a visual reminder of all that we have to be thankful for! If you are at WCES in the next few weeks, make sure you take a look at our awesome Gratitude Banner!

Groups participated in a variety of other activities during their Grow Group time. Mrs. Tilton and Mrs. Milner’s groups read the book Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy's Parade and designed their own balloon floats. Other groups created turkeys out of a variety of different materials including pinecones and brown paper bags. Groups connected together by completing puzzles, playing games, and guessing some pictionary clues.

No matter what activities each Grow Group did, everyone had a wonderful time and had the opportunity to focus on all that we have to be grateful for! What an awesome way to lead in to Thanksgiving and this fabulous holiday season!

Happy Thanksgiving from WCES Grow Groups!
