Our WCES staff has spent the last couple of days preparing for Back to School! We have already done training on Crisis Protocols, CPR, Behavior Supports, and more. Next week we will continue with our preparations, and Wednesday school will begin!
On that first day, students may come into the building at 7:40 am. School begins at 8:00 am. Parents are welcome to walk students to the classroom if they wish. You will need to sign in and put on a visitor’s badge. Feel free to have hugs and kisses in the pod, but we encourage you to make the separation quick. Teachers will be managing lots of new students and we have found that a quick good-bye works best.
Please be patient with our carline as we figure out the best system and get the students used to the process. Especially the first couple of days as more families might drive, it will take patience to navigate the traffic and the car line.
A couple of additional notes:
From the Front Office: Please fill out our Transportation Survey so we know how your child will be going home most days. This is important to have before the first day of school. Thank you for helping us with this.
Important school supply note: We have new devices this year in our intermediate grades (3 – 5). This is exciting, but they do require a different headphone jack then the younger students’ devices. This was noted on the school supply lists, but you might want to double check that you have the right ones. If you have already purchased headphones with the more typical headphone jack, there seem to be some inexpensive adaptors available online also. I apologize for any confusion. Let us know if you have questions
Our new Wolf Creek website is under construction. Soon we will be getting training on how to design it and we are hoping to have some quick links to share with you so you have easy access to all our information. More coming soon!
Meet the Teacher is Monday from 4:30 to 5:30. Feel free to stop by, drop off school supplies, and meet your new teachers. We hope to see you there!
Lunch Guests:
We look forward to having guests join their children for lunch. As in previous years, we ask that you wait until after Labor Day to come to lunch, allowing us time to establish our routines and timing. Lunch guests do not need to be registered as volunteers.
Nurse’s Notes
Hello Wolf Creek Families! Summer is nearing the end and the nurse's office is gearing up for another healthy year full of learning!
If you received paperwork for chronic health conditions at the end of last school year, please return to me as soon as possible. If you did not receive paperwork and your student has asthma, diabetes, food allergies, or seizures, please reach out to me so that I may get them to you. Please send in new inhalers, EpiPens, and other medications in the original box from the pharmacy with the prescription label as well the prescription order form on the first day of school. Please do not send the medications with students in their backpacks!
Please note that we have a district policy we will need to put into place. All classroom and birthday treats must be store bought. Please do not bring homemade treats for birthday or holiday celebrations, etc. These will still need to be dropped in the office for an allergy check. Thank you for your help with this!
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I can be reached at my email arthurmar@usd230.org or my office phone 913-592-7407. I cannot wait to see you all at Meet the Teacher and to begin a new school year together!
