We had a great first week of school! Classrooms were full of happy faces, students getting to know each other, and teachers establishing those important classroom norms and expectations. We are so happy to be back with your children!
I want to give a shout out to our amazing teachers and staff. It’s a good bit of work to get a school year up and running. Everyone here, teachers, office staff, custodians, and all of our support staff, have worked so hard to get ready for our students, always with a smile on their faces.
When you have over 400 people in a building, you can’t be sure what the day might bring. In addition to being positive and hardworking, our staff are highly trained professionals and capable of handling whatever comes our way. I am grateful to work with such a talented group of people.
A few important Notes:
Please mark your calendars for Thursday, August 28th. Back to School Orientation is a parent only event that takes place from 5 – 6pm. There are two sessions. One from 5 to 5:30 and one from 5:30 to 6. You are welcome to attend at the time that works for you. We hope to see you there!
If you send any transportation or attendance emails to the office, those go to Amanda Kimmi (kimmia@usd230.org) and Tracy Dickens (dickenst@usd230.org).
Our first PLC Day is approaching on August 27th. PLC Days take place on Wednesdays of five-day weeks. This year you do NOT need to register with the Y in order to use them for morning care. YCare is available at 7:40 am on these days. If you do use the Y, you will drive your child around to the back bus loop and they enter through the lunchroom door. You are welcome to have a slower start on these days if that works for your schedule. We will run our typical morning car line and bus procedures from 8:40 to 9:00. School begins promptly at 9:00. If you have any questions about PLC days and routines, please give us a call at 913-592-7233.
Parents are welcome for lunch after Labor Day. We need a few more days to get our procedures and expectations set before we have changes to our regular routines. Thank you for your support.
